recalcitrant

Yep, that's been me - A.Bad.Blogger. Too much going on, but I have managed to find a little time

Yesterday we went to New Lanark with a friend. The walk beside The Falls of CLyde is lovely, but I am still having major migraine problems. I am not going to be able to take my usual painkillers for a while. Now, they do not get rid of the pain, but they allow me to somehow get on with life. I'm kind of resigned at the moment to living with chronic pain - but I have a visit to a neurologist coming up, so I am living in hope. In the meantime, I am very worried about how I am going to cope with work if my pain is out of control....

Saturday night saw us at The Rocky H0rror Show for the fourth time. It's a new production, and David Badella was (worryingly!) good in the lead role. Wasn't convinced by Columbia, though. HOwever, we had a great time, as did most of the audience....

I discovered that i need to pay far more attention when I'm baking cakes. As you can see, I HAD already put the bicarb in this cake. First time I've had a cake collapse on me, but it still tasted great.

I finally took a picture of Hiccup, the sock pattern I made up and knat with my Secret Pal Lorna's Laces. Love that yarn - thanks again, SP8! I've included 2 pics - one gives a better view, one gives a bit of a better colour representation

I like my socks to be close fitting, so I now know to knit them with a fair bit of negative ease, as it were. My Dear Son goes back to Uni in 2 weeks - so that'll be me crying for a month again, I expect. Course, he can't wait to go!

So, this has been rather a disjointed post, but with a lot on my mind at the moment, I'm afraid it's the best I could do - surely a 'Must do Better' on my Blogging Report.....

Doh!

So, this is what happens when you put glass and plastic in a hot oven to sterilise, panic and plunge into cold water! As if I didn't know....why the heck did I do that? You're guess is as good as mine. I was in the middle of making raspberry vinegar and I guess I just didn't think.

Had a great holiday, here is a pic of my dearest son who came with us on holiday, and I enjoyed his company so much. He's a great boy. I've just been listening to Cast -on, and maybe I shouldn't have - Brenda often speaks about her son in ways which reflect my own feelings - and it made me cry again, as my DS will be back at uni in a few weeks, and our lives too will be crossing less often...ulp

My Gaelic course was well messed up this year, but I won't go into that. The upsode was that as compensation we had lunch here . If you don't know (?!), This is one of the best restaurants. We had lunch there and it is definitely worth it. We stayed overnight on Iona, which is a beautiful little island. Must've been hellishly hard when Columba was living there

I still haven't been up front about all my purchases from Woolfest, so I'll need to get down to that. Anyway, in the meantime, hope ya'll had a great summer, tioraidh an-drasta

Charity

I sometimes admire people who fight for a 'good cause'. Why the quotation marks? Why only sometimes. Because not everyone has the same good cause.

I have my own charities that I donate to. I don't make a song and dance about it, I just do it. Arguably, there are times when a song and dance are what is needed.

I have a question, though. Is it fair to publicly 'out' a company that has decided that someone else's (unrelated)good cause isn't their good cause? Seems a bit like charity terrorism to me.

Dacaigh a-rithist

Home again - or at least I am if I have spelt that sorrectly. Otherwise, Lord knows where I am...

I think I am due to post something for the SP8 exchange. Apologies for the lateness. I am just back today and I have an (other) assignment looming. Got the Gaelic one back. The bad news -didn't get as much as the last time. The good news - I still got 88%

Tioraidh!

Feasgar math

a h-uile duine. An seachdain* seo, bidh mise agus mo dhuine anns an Eilean Sgitheanach. Tha an t-usige ann a h-uile lath, ach tha mi toilichte.

Ok, got that bit out of my system. LAst week we were on Ardnaurchan, Iona and Mull - it was great and so was the weather. Since coming on to Skye, it has done little except rain. Oh well. Mt son seemed to have a good time when he was with us last week, but I think he was still glad to go home on Sunday. As for me, the Gaelic this week is very hard agus tha ceann goirt agam - my head hurts!.

Tioraidh a-nis, a h-uile duine. India * 'An' no 'An-t' seachdaine? 'S e 'an-t' a th'ann tha mi a'smaoneachadh ach tha beagan Gaidhlig agam ( agus chan eil grave accent agam ...)
