Did you format the card from your PC, or did you format it from the camera? Does the camera have a USB or FireWire port on it that you can plug into your PC? That's how I use mine, even though It's got a card, so that I don't have to worry about it - the Camera can read the Card, so I use the Camera to access the Card, saving me from having to pop it in & out, maybe get it dusty, etc.
Well, the camera and the pc stopped talking through the USB port some time ago, so I've been taking the card out and shooving it, I mean placing it gently, into the card slot. I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get a new card & cable - but I have some pics on my camera thatI can't use now :0(

I happen to know someone who's going to be in the UK in about 6 weeks. He's going to be coming to Glasgow, actually. He happens to have a cheapy little digital camera which would probably read your card, but he's also got a perfectly working USB cable & a laptop to plug that cable into.
If all else fails, that is - don't let anybody format the card, that's certain. If you can hang on, we can probably fix it - or, at least, treat the pictures as if they're valuable enough not to erase.
Do you know someone else with the same type of camera? We fixed that problem by transfering a card from one camera to the other, when we were able to upload, then we got a new card. Hope you can retrieve the pics!
Thanks for adive/offer of help. I took the camera into John Lewis today - what do you know - the darn pictures popped up large as life on their pc.....I'm gonna have another try tomorrow.

Please tell me that you saved a copy of the pictures off when you were using their PC? You burned a CD of them, in case it's a problem with the card, or in case you ... arrive with a problem with the card?
Yes - I'm paranoid.
But I'm not delusional, which is what counts, right? (added nervously, trying to remember whether the blog author he was writing to was associated with the mental health community)
