Mixed emotions
One of the couple grew up with Siamese (her mum was a breeder) so they know what makes them special. They came to our house to meet the girls first and then we visited them at their place today. We are both devastated to have to do this but are delighted that they will be much-loved where they are going.
I have only one concern (which we have discussed) - the lovely leather sofas. Our cats are not destructive, but I am sure that most cat folk would agree that there is something irresistable 'moreish' about the scratchabiity of animal hide.....

If you take the cats to the vet (I know, they'll hate you), your vet may be able to do something which would limit the scratching, at least for a little bit. They can trim the nails just a touch & glue on plastic covers.
It seems strange, but what happens is that the new nails will grow out & push the covers aside, and then they'll be back to just regular scratchy kitty paws, but they'll have had a few weeks of not having claws, which breaks them of the habit, just a little bit.
We saw a show on the Alpenhorn last night. Oh, the joys of Switzerland. Yep. Yodeling, the alpenhorn... I can see you now. :)
It's very hard to leave a loved animal behind, especially when u are upping sticks and move to unknown land..............but I am also very happy for you that you where able to handpick the new owners of the four pawed furry friends! This must be a small consolation to you ,to know that they will be well looked after.
Ha ha ha - yodelling, eh?
The cats don't have a scratching habit at the moment. They are very good and use their scratching post but leather, well that's a different story. Some cats just loooooove leather makes them go all blissed-out and happy scratchy.
And it is definitely a good thingt hat we have got such good homes, but it's still hard...

So glad it's worked out for you all :0) They'll be fine ... you, it may take a little longer but you'll be fine too.
Oh poor you! I know how hard it is to leabe them behind - we had to rehome our cats when we went to NZ, and it took them a v long time to settle down - don't mean to alarm you, just sympathising! It will be a wrench, especially when you have no little things about the house so you'll just have to go mad with the knitting and take many trips to the srrounding wool low countries.....
